Established in 1973, previously it was known as Royal Chitwan National Park. It was enlisted in the World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984. Chitwan National Park is located in Chitwan district on the low lands of inner Terai. It is spread over the area of 932 square kilometers.
The government had to implement strict law known as conservation act in 1957 in order to save the endangered flora and fauna and their habitats. In due course of time Chitwan National Park was extended with an area of 932km. Kasara is the headquater of Chitwan National Park. Slowly many animals and birds like Gharial, Turtle and Vultures were also introduced. The climate of Chitwan is tropical with lofty moisture yearly.
