‘The Rain God’ Rato Machhindranath Popularly revered to as the god of prosperity, rain and harvest,Rato Machhindranath is widely believed to have alleviated the valley from the great 12 year drought laid upon by the curse of the Hindu saint Guru Gorakhnath Baba because of not having received alms from the valley denizens. This auspicious festival is celebrated just before the onset of monsoon so that the valley will be able to get ample amount of rain. Trekkers belonging to every nationality going on trek in Nepal require a TIMS certificate. Trekking Registration Certificate (TRC) and the TIMS slips will be made available to trekkers free of cost. Trekking agencies working as members of TAAN, use TIMS counters. The TAAN central office in Kathmandu and its regional chapter office in Pokhara also issues TIMS slips. If necessary, Nepal Tourism Board will open its counter to issue the slips for Free Individual Tourists. Each morning a small fire is lit for burnable rubbish. Any non-burnable or non-biodegradable rubbish should be carried back to Kathmandu and disposed appropriately. An amount of US$250.00 should be deposited as garbage deposite to get permit to all 33 peaks for climbing. The refund shall be made as per the provisions made.
