Trekking in the Himalayas of Nepal requires sound health, stamina as well as patience. Any person with these,has what it takes to trek.Trekking in Nepal can be done by all levels of trekkers and is simply a matter of will. People with heart or respiratory problem are suggested not to but with good consultation with doctors you may embark the trek you want to. But one thing to bear in mind always, is to never make a mistake of overestimating oneself.

Grade A: Easy

Trekking in Grade A is the easiest trek. Treks, tours or walks in a do not exceed more than 5 hours. Normally includes an 8 to 10 days trek with camping or tea house accommodation. Altitude will be around 3000 m. We can enjoy the scenario of great Himalayas. Trekking to Poonhill, Everest view trekking, around Kathmandu valley trekking etc. are examples of grade A trekking.

Grade B: Moderate 

Moderate or Grade B trek includes trek at altitudes higher than 3000 m above the sea level. Moderate treks are designed for 7 to 15 days. Sometimes an itinerary can be planned above 15 days to go as high as 5000 m. Many ‘ups’ and ‘downs’ during trials must be faced. Good health is a must.

Grade C: Strenuous

Strenuous trekking grade is a combination of strenuous and moderate. Usually with an altitude of up to 5000 m with some basic side trips. 

Grade D: Very Strenuous 

Very Strenuous trekking grade is best described as Alpine and, which requires mountaineering skills, knowledge as well as experience. The elevations range from 4000 m to 6000 m passing across some remote areas. Must at least be walking 7 hrs a day.

Grade E: Challenging/ Extreme

Grade E is the most difficult among all and also can be said as a Challenging Trek. It ranges from an altitude of above 6000 m above the sea level. But, as we all know, the most challenging one is also the most adventurous and exciting. It may need 20 to 28 days at least. During the trek we will be passing across the snow and steep trails. Physical stamina with sound health is quiet essential for this trek.
