NEPAL ONCE IS NOT ENOUGH

NATURALLY NEPAL... ONCE IS NOT ENOUGH

NEPAL, THE GATEWAY TO THE HEAVEN

NATURALLY NEPAL ONCE IS NOT ENOUGH Nepal is a developing country. Though there exist some developed cities like Kathmandu, Pokhara, Patan, Biratnagar and some others, the majority of the sub urban areas are still dominated by the rural areas and the villagers. This, however, is not a matter of shame for us because it rather helps us in promoting our tourism and to show our unique cultures. Big hotels and sophisticated guestrooms are available in every corners of the world and people are used to it and hence they do not find anything new about it. But they might be interested for something different like that of the Village Tour/ Home Stay Tour. Village Tour/Home Stay Tour is flourishing in our country as tourists are interested in knowing our culture, language and history and they are warmly welcomed with utter hospitality too. The rapid urbanization has destroyed natural things and is promoting artificial things where people do not want to spend their time talking with unknown...

Kathmandu Valley

Image
Kathmandu Valley Kathmandu Valley comprises the three ancient cities of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur, which were once independent states ruled by the Malla kings from the 12th to the 18th centuries. The three cities house has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site (Culture). The valley is also the home to hundreds of other exquisite monuments, sculptures, artistic temples and magnificent art – reminders of the golden era in Nepal’s architecture. The history shape Kathmandu as a huge lake surrounded by Verdant Mountain until one fine day, saint Manjushree, the Bodhisatva, raised a mighty sword and in one fell swoop, cut open the side of a mountain at a place now known as Chobar. The water in the lake was then all gone living behind a fertile land which turned into a valley with large urban settlement. The Gopala and Kirati dynasties were the earliest rulers here followed by the Licchavi (300-879 A.D.), under who flourished trade and crafts. But the valley’s remarkable cit...

Coca Cola Trekking

http://greatnepaltreks.com/coca-cola-trekking Kaji had called it Coca Cola trekking referring to my trip to Annapurna Base Camp while we were on our way over the Cho La Pass in Everest region. Obviously some pride there from my mountain guide in what is considered to be the “hardcore” trekking region of Nepal. “It will be easy for you after this one, you can drink beer and Coca Cola the whole way and the maximum altitude is just over 4000m”.  I had this in mind as we headed off from Pokhara 2 days after I flew back from Lukla. This was my first time on this trek and I had taken the opportunity to join this trip in order to photograph this trek and film some marketing video. And after seeing some photos from Annapurna Base Camp there was no way I would miss this opportunity. The group was 4 Polish from Canada. Culturally similar to me. A little older.  A nice 12 day itinerary. I had decided to carry my own gear “guide style”. I was warned in advance about the stairs on ...

ethical-tourism

One of the biggest obstacles to tourism development in Nepal is the unethical practices of many people in the industry. Not only does this impact on the quality of service provided to tourists but it’s negative effects filter down to hurt the entire industry. With tourism being a primary source of income for the nation it is important that a high level of service and ethical practices be followed to ensure not only the safety of travellers but also that they may have an enjoyable holiday, recommend Nepal to their friends and come back in the future. One practice in the industry is the use of helicopter rescue to earn commissions. Some companies charge very low prices to clients (prices so low that they are actually making losses) and then they subsequently deliberately cause trekkers to get sick (by tampering with food or serving unhygienic food) and then arrange a helicopter rescue for them. This has a two fold financial benefit for them by firstly allowing them to save the cost ...
